Remodel project

Food industry produces a substantial amount of waste, which poses a significant industrial problem that necessitates efficient management to reduce its environmental impact. Inadequate waste management is a contributing factor to climate change.

REMODEL project aims to increase awareness of the environmental impact of agri-food production.

REMODEL Goals

By combining high-tech and cross-sectoral solutions, we improve the re-use of natural resources through green methods and disseminate the knowledge, enabling SMEs to actively contribute to the green and digital transition. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that different aspects of this transition are addressed in a comprehensive, integrated and effective way.

REMODEL is an example of cross-sectoral collaboration between SMEs, driving business process innovation through advanced technologies. We provide innovative tools and solutions for the EU green and digital transition, while promoting gender equality and inclusion policies. Transversally, our project contributes significantly to the broader goal of a sustainable society, emphasizing the value of resources.

REMODEL project proposes actions that are necessary for a more environmentally and socially sustainable future. One of these actions is the recovery of agri-food waste, which can be reused to obtain molecules for various purposes, such as nutraceuticals, animal feed, and pharmaceuticals, should be in line with the United Nations 2030 agenda for sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Objective 12 aims to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. Specific Objective 12.3 aims to halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels by 2030, and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses. Specific Objective 12.5 aims to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse by 2030.

Development of an innovative and user-friendly web platform is a solution that raises social and consumer awareness and provides new information for scientific experts. this is in line to the goal of sustainable development 13 “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts”, in detail with specific objective 13.3 “Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning”.

Plant Extraction:
From leaf to life.

Plant extracts are natural compounds derived from various parts of plants, such as leaves, flowers, stems, and roots, using various extraction techniques. These extracts contain bioactive molecules with diverse chemical and biological properties, such as antioxidants, flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids.

Plant extracts are widely used in various sectors, including food and beverages, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and agriculture, for their medicinal, nutritional, and functional properties. The extraction process typically involves the treatment of the plant material with a solvent, such as water, ethanol, or supercritical fluids to extract the desired compounds. The resulting extract can be used in various forms, such as powders, liquids, or concentrates, depending on the desired application.

Market Compass:

According to Precedence Research, the global plant extracts market size was valued at USD 55 billion in 2022 and is expected to hit around USD 98.96 billion by 2032, poised to grow at a CAGR of 6.10% during the forecast period 2023 to 2032.
